Thursday’s Tapas

The local eateries with go up against the best Asian restaurants and takeaways from around Scotland after more than 10,000 people voted online for their favourite venues, with 70 businesses making the shortlist.

Hosted by BBC News anchor Samantha Simmonds, the gala dinner and awards ceremony will take place at The Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh on September 18.

The awards, being held for the seventh time, are organised by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF).

ACF chairman Yawar Khan said: “We are seeing some remarkable creativity by pioneering restaurateurs and chefs, adapting to challenging trading conditions and more sophisticated customer preferences, showcasing Scotland’s world-leading produce, especially its seafood, game, neeps and tatties.”

Our weekly Tapas night on a Thursday is a great opportunity to experience the great Itihaas range of India delicacies and curries in a different way. Served in smaller dishes – you can try even more of our great food and maybe even find yourself a new favourite.

This month we are going to recommend three rather special dishes – how about giving them a try? Give us a call and book a table for Thursday Tapas – you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.

Prawn Jalfrezie

This can be the little plate of heat if you fancy one. The garnish of green pepper, onions and green chilli means that this is a dish that can look after itself. The prawns are cooked in a spicy sauce with lovely herbs adding freshness and ensuring that the prawns will do a little dance on your tongue!

Chicken Patia

A unique tasting dish with hints of vinegar. A spicy dish with a touch of the sweet and sour – very different and well worth a try.

Chicken Tikka Massallam

Hopefully you know the basics of this dish. The Itihaas version is a little bit more special than the standard version served in most places – that’s down to our chef’s skills. Beautiful marinated chicken, barbecued and then served in a rich sauce. Perfect.
