Midlothian Council staff have dined out in style – but it was all for the sake of charity.
The multi award-winning Itihaas restaurant in Dalkeith donated a large portion of its whole day’s takings when members of the Council’s fundraising group enjoyed lunch or dinner there.
Director Matin Khan handed over a cheque for £750 to the group’s campaign to raise money for its two designated charities – Maggie’s Cancer Centres and Cancer Research UK.
“It was an amazingly successful event and we are very grateful to Matin who put his hand in his own pocket to top up the amount,” said Denice Love, one of the group’s leaders.
“We are particularly pleased to have the support of local businesses. The staff who ate at Itihaas were talking about it for days afterwards and many of them are already planning to eat there again.”
Matin Khan commented: “My team and I were delighted to help two such worthwhile causes. Midlothian Council staff are to be congratulated on their initiatives in thinking of others and putting their words into action.”
Over the past two years Itihaas, on Eskbank Road, has been voted Scotland’s Best Bangladeshi and South Asian restaurant.
