Dalkeith restaurant Itihaas has added a customer service accolade to awards for the standard of its food.
The Bangladeshi-Indian restaurant won the category for Best Customer Service at the inaugural Midlothian Food and Drink Awards, presented at a dinner at Newbattle Abbey. It was also shortlisted in the Best Place for Dinner section.
Itihaas, on Eskbank Road, has been voted the Best Bangladeshi and Best South Asian restaurant in Scotland, and was one of four finalists in the Indian category of the Scottish Restaurant of the Year Awards.
“Our top priority is to give customers a consistently magnificent dining experience,” said Director Matin Khan. “This is achieved not only by the quality of the food, based on using the finest ingredients including authentic spices, but also by looking after guests from the moment they enter the door to the moment they leave.”
He added: “My team and I are thrilled with this latest win which recognises the lengths to which we all go to meet the high expectations of guests who come here for lunch and dinner from an increasingly wide area. We’re very grateful to all those who voted for us.”
The Midlothian Food and Drink Awards, a partnership between the Midlothian Tourism Forum and Midlothian Council, aim to highlight the range of quality food and drink suppliers and producers across the County.
Votes from almost 2,000 residents were used to compile the shortlists, with finalists judged by industry experts and Council representatives.
