Restaurateur raises cash to help blind

Published in the evening news on Thursday 19 July 2012 12:00

AN award-winning Dalkeith restaurateur Matin Khan has represented Scotland at a reception at the House of Commons.

The event, hosted by the Britain-Bangladesh Parliamentary Group, celebrated the 40th anniversary of a charity which tackles blindness in Bangladesh. Mr Khan’s customers and staff at his Itihaas restaurant recently donated £1200 to BRAC-Vision Bangladesh, which provides cataract operations.

Mr Khan, who left his native Bangladesh for the UK at the age of 13, said: “The Itihaas team are very grateful to our many customers who provided some of the funding.”
