Itihaas in Dalkeith was packed to overflowing as management, staff and guests celebrated winning the title of the best Bangladeshi restaurant in Scotland.
Director Matin Khan was joined by members of his family in national dress – both Bangladeshi and Scottish! – at the reception which followed presentation of the trophy at an event in London attended by more than 1,000 people.
Among those attending the function were Midlothian Provost Adam Montgomery, Councillors, local and regional and business leaders, regular customers and representatives of clubs and societies sponsored by the restaurant which was also marking its third anniversary.
They were treated to a mountwatering array of the kind of dishes which won the restaurant the accolade, awarded by the UK Bangladeshi Caterers’ Association.
“Our team was honoured to have so many members of the community in and around Midlothian with us for such a special event,” said Mr Khan. “We were glad to be able to demonstrate our hospitality as well as thanking them for the marvellous support we have enjoyed over the past three years.”
