For an idea of what’s on, read more about the Celtic Festival 2011. It will be a great day so do come along and enjoy!
We should also highlight that Itihaas have been asked to cater for the festival – something which we feel very privileged in doing so.

Bangladeshi Meal Enjoyed By All
(transcript of press cutting)
International relations were cemented in an enjoyable visit by members and partners to the Itihaas restaurant. Proprietor Matin Khan, organiser Nigel Wilson and Rotary Club of Dalkeith president Hilary Watkinson are seen holding the Bangladeshi national flag.
In a welcoming address before supervising the serving of a superb meal, Mr Khan recalled how, having come to the UK 25 years ago not knowing a word of English, he had gone on to found the catering business now flourishing in Dalkeith.
He also used the occasion to announce a donation of £100 towards the club’s disasters appeal for which he was thanked by Hilary.

The Mark Wright Project
We are very proud to highlight The Mark Wright Project. This charity was established by two proud parents from Dalkeith in memory of their son who died tragically during a tour of duty in Afganistan.
The project provides invaluable support to ex-service men, women and their families as they return to civilian life. Located in the Hardengreen Industrial estate in Dalkeith, their relaxed supportive environment offers a wide range of activities to help those who really need it. Wholly run and supported by a team of volunteers, they are a charity who do fantastic work – and are deserving of support from us all.
Itihaas’ Community Involvement
Itihaas does its best to help out in the community as much as possible. Here are some photos from events we have helped out with and contributed towards.

Dalkeith High Street Closure
As part of an initiative from the local council – Dalkeith High Street – is closed for the next 3 to 4 months (hopefully not longer)! At the end of this time, we will have a more pedestrian friendly road close to Dalkeith’s best Indian Restaurant and Takeaway.
Walk for a Curry?
Despite the roadworks closeby – things won’t be changing here at Itihaas. If your preference is for a takeaway – our drivers will be ready to zoom to your door and you won’t notice any difference! At our restaurant, our fine Indian food will still be available and as good as ever – all it means is that to come and enjoy it, due to the diversions if you’re driving may take you a few minutes longer! Of course you could just walk and do your bit for the environment! Trust us – we’re worth the effort and if you’re really worried – treat yourself to an extra starter to help recover!
Things to Do in Dalkeith
Here at Itihaas Indian Restaurant we feel blessed. We have a very busy Indian restaurant that keeps us out of mischief – but when we do get time off – there is lots to do around and about.
Naturally there is nearby Edinburgh – but there are also some places to enjoy closer to home. There is nothing better than getting out for a day and then relaxing with a fantastic meal in a restaurant or a beautiful takeaway in the comfort of your own home.
Butterfly or King Prawn Butterfly
If we can make one suggestion for your day – how about nearby Edinburgh Butterfly & Insect World? With it’s tropical atmosphere and wide array of fascinating creatures it is a treat for the whole family. And after a day beautiful butterflies – why not give us a call on your way home and order a great meal to pick up on your way home. We can recommend our beautiful King Prawn Butterfly to get you started!
