Itihaas is a word derived from Hindi/Bengali referring to history. Bangladeshi history reverts back to really quite modern times when in 1971 India fought a war with Pakistan which at that time was divided into two parts, West and East Pakistan. In March of that year, East Pakistan decided to break away from the West and declared it's independance.
Today, Bangladesh (formerly East Bengal until the partition of India and East Pakistan until it's independance), together with the Indian state of West Bengal, produces most the world's fibre.
